I watched Blade 2 last night and was… Bored in some places. Despite what everyone’d told me about it being a gory, gory mess, I actually found Blade 2 less so than the first one. I appreciated not being subjected to exploding blobby demons and the domino effect of one head exploding after another. Not to say that there weren’t some icky parts – the mutant vampires have this facial problem that takes some getting used to. There were places where the story could have been tighter, more explanatory; the comic book visuals that make this sequel so much easier on the eyes I kinda missed.

Nice lead in for tonight’s return of Angel? Naw.

WARNING!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!

So, the season premiere... Was OK. I dread the wave of slash that will backwash upon the fic-writing community’s shores come Tuesday morn. I heard one particular squeal all the way across from the East Coast as Wesley finally offered his own arm to Angel’s thirsty mouth. Oh, how many inner dialogues will drift through fanfiction.net and the myriad of slash sites across the WWW! The thing is, how many people will actually get the point: although Wesley does love Angel with every fibre of his being, he knows – as surely as Angel related to Connor – that there is a battle for which they are all Champions and that Angel is necessary to The Good Fight.

BTW, I groaned when I saw John Rubenstein’s name in the credits. I clapped when his character got the … literal … axe. Perhaps Daniel Dae Kim will be allowed to flesh out Gavin Park this year – his expression was priceless. BRAVO!

Unfortunately, Angel should have been a whole lot less lucid. He wasn’t. Canon moves on and it’s my choice to either follow it or pass.

SPOILERS OVER!!!

I have no stories in me right now but there is a feeling that I haven’t possessed in 10 or so episodes: I actually want to watch this episode again. Soon.

The same cannot be said for Moulin Rogue, which I tried watching tonight. I’m sorry, my attention span is a tad bit longer than 3 seconds edits. The DVD is neat – the packaging is beautiful. If you do nothing else, disc two is a must. Watch the Dance Sequences in Multi-Cam; you can edit them together yourself.

As for now, I’m going to bed. I have work in the morning and, instead of going after the same Good one that Angel's after, I’ll be needing to fight L.A. morning traffic.
